Living at Home or Moving Out

Living at home for 19 years is a big difference to going to living on your own. There’s so many challenging and dreadful things you have to do during the day. They are all time consuming and I have to make time to do the things that need to get done in the apartment. For instance going to the grocery store, cleaning the apartment, working to pay rent, paying bills, making dinner, and clean the dishes. These things are all important and you are the only one that is going to have to do it because no one else will.

Living on your own your parents would do most of the stuff around the house while you laid down after a day at school and watch TV. They would go to work and still come home and cook or clean. I respect my parents so much more now that I live on my own for working hard and still coming home to do all the stuff that needs to be done. I remember my mom coming home after work complaining that she did not want to cook dinner and I did not understand how she could be tired because I thought she barely did anything at work. I now understand how hard it is coming home to feed myself and still get my school work done. I’m so exhausted after work and while at work I can not stop thinking about how much I have to do when I get back. While living at home I felt I had no freedom to do the things I wanted to do. I never liked my friends to come to my house because if they messed up and my parents saw their mistakes would be on me. My parents would not stop talking about it if they did see their mess up and then complain how I am hanging out with the wrong people. There is a whole bunch I miss, but it has changed me better as a person. It is definitely a lot of responsibility to live on your own.

Living on your own also is great mainly for all the freedom you have. It does suck having to make time to get things done, but I love the freedom living on my own gives me. Moving out has been a great experience for me. I have learned a lot and I think I have grown as a person. It is a lot more challenging, but at the same time easier mentally to live on your own. I have learned that it take work and dedication to get stuff done to be able to have free time to just relax. The freedom it comes with is great because I can do whatever and no one says anything to me. All my friends come over and we can say or do whatever we want without a parent saying anything to us or looking over our shoulders at all times. I would say I do not think I ever want to move back home just because I love having people over and them not feeling judge or intimidated by anyone. My parents were really bad about intimidating my friends that would come over and making them feel not welcomed. I can stay up as long as I want and not worry about waking up my parents. I can leave or come home whenever and not worry about if I am going to be caught and get in trouble about how late I stayed out. It is just very nice to do anything and not feel judged or have to tiptoe around. It does take a lot of responsibility but it is all worth it in the end to be honest. I love my parents, but it just made me appreciate them more when I moved which is good in my opinion that I did move out. It does take responsibility and hard work to get up and do the things you do not want to do.

In conclusion, I am really glad I moved out at a younger age because it really taught me responsibility and to be an adult. Living on your own and living at home are both great and it all depends each and every person. Sometimes it can be hard for people to move out do to family issues or something going on in their life. Each person is different so everyone moves out when they are ready. I just chose the one that gave me feel as if I had more freedom and could do the things I wanted without feeling judged. These things are all important and you are the only one that is going to have to do it because no one else will.
